The Science of Cricket

After the victory of Pakistani team in 2020 World Cup, it was as if usual against all likelihood. People did not expect that we will reach the finals. However, we did make it to the finals and shocked the nation. We won against Sri Lanka's team. People back at home were really glad that after such a long time, we won the match. There were people who danced and enjoyed and exploded fireworks and crackles to the spirit of patriotism.
A tour to Sri Lanka was next on the agenda, which gave a chance to the team of Pakistan to prove their mettle once again. However, instead of being confident and positive back at home, they lost 2 chances to win in the first two test matches. As a result, the smile on their faces as well as their fans vanished.
The older ones came out with the daggers and started twisting them in the teams back. In all fairness Pakistan did claw back to lose the test series 3-2 but with this loss the polish of the 20 20 certainly faded away and our team is left exposed once more as a unit both fragmented and in total disarray. Besides this, it has been reported that bookies were noticed in the hotel room of the Pakistani team. This was investigated by the ICC, which cleared the team of Pakistan. Therefore, let me make it clear before anyone raises a banner that it is done and cleared. Though our team requires a complete examination, but I feel that the following factors should be considered .
Rivalry in Cricket. It seems that the team of Pakistan is suffering from this disease for longer time and requires a strong captain, who can rule with iron hand and do away with disgrace and jealousies. According to me, Yunis Khan is not strong enough a character, for it is obvious that there are some problems between him and other older players. This has ultimately led to in-fighting in the team after he came back in the team.
We have two options: We can either remove the present captain and replace him with a leader who can handle the team properly or give him an opportunity to remove threats from within.

Everything You Need to Know About Sports Betting

So what exactly is this thing called sports betting? Well, first of all, the meaning can actually be derived from the name itself - betting on sports. Many people who watch their favorite sport like basketball or even baseball never fail to guess which team will win, although some are actually biased and they just root for their favorite team instead. In sports betting, you can't play favorites, meaning, you can't say that this team will win or that team will win simply because you have a gut feeling.
Legal Issues Regarding Betting
In many parts of the globe, sports betting are actually illegal, especially in many states in the US, but, of course there are some exceptions to this rule, which includes the states of Nevada (famous for sin city - Las Vegas), Delaware, Oregon and Montana. So before anything else, make sure that betting is legal in your area. You don't want to run into any implications right?
History of Betting
No one really knows when widespread betting began but you can be sure that whatever sport is being played, there are bookies in the sidelines and wagers are being made. When animal racing became popular, people started betting on them and that hobby extended into sporting events as well. In Europe, football is easily one of the most popular games for sports bettors. But in Asia, cricket and boxing are more popular than football.
A Few Reminders for First Time Bettors
Just remember that when you are still new in the world of betting, everything has a system. Don't bet huge amounts of money just because you felt like it. Start small and then work your way up. Choose which sport is for you and then choose a specific betting system that will increase your chances of getting a bigger payout. And lastly, don't be impatient. Most professionals in the field honed their betting skills for a number of years.

How to Bet on Cricket

Have you ever speculated on how to bet on cricket? Well, doing if you have experience on betting on other kinds of sports like horse racing and motor sports, then you have probably taken into account the tedious work involved with these other kinds. Researching, data gathering together with a complete and thorough analyzing of each racer and comparing each racer with each other is quite the hard task. If you do not find this kind of work like tasks fun and enjoyable, then you should try betting on cricket. Unlike other sports, it is much easier to bet on cricket because of a few differences.
Cricket, like other sports, has its own specific rules that must be followed. As such, it is important to know these rules by heart. A basic mastery coupled with advanced study of this rules is very much recommended in order to fully utilize these rules in making your bet. It is important to stress that in cricket, you can make "draw" bets. The reason for this is that cricket games can go for as long as one day to up to three days, There are even some cricket games that go on for as long as five days. As such, draw bets became distinctively popular in this kind of sport. Many online cricket betting enthusiasts and fanatics have double their money by making draw bets.
Another key factor to take note of in online cricket bets is that you can make bets based on the "series scores". International cricket teams will eventually play with each other in test matches. These test matches can go on for as long as three to five test matches. In international day matches, it can even go as long as a week. Making a bet based on this series scores is simply placing your bet on how many expected wins you are waiting for with regard to the team that you have put your bet on. If you have great analytical skills then you could put these skills into good use here. You can rate each team on there best and worst capabilities and then make a prediction with a higher chance of success. Then use this prediction in making your bet in order to earn that money that you so desire for.
You can even bet on the top batsman in this cricket sport. Making this kind of bet is simply placing your money on who you think will be the top scorer for the game. You can place your bet accurately by using historical records as basis. Research on each team's top scorer or ace and then rate each one of them. Based on this comparison, you should be able to come up with a result that has a high probability of winning you that cash that you yearn for.
Last but not the least, you can even bet on the total number of runs that each team can make during a game. You can either bet on "odd" or "even". If the total runs of a team come up with an odd number, then you win if you have put your bet on the "odd" and if the total is an even number, then you win that money if you have put your bet on the "even" tag. Betting on cricket is much easier than betting on other kinds of sport. As such, why not try your luck in online cricket betting?

Pakistan Cricket Team on Top of the World

There was only once in 1999 cricket world cup when Pakistan team was ranked favorites for the ICC multinational tournament. Every other tournament Pakistan had a bumpy ride but some how managed to reach at final and once won it in 1992.
What pleases me as a cricketing fan and especially die hard Pakistan cricket fan is the plan that was executed on 21st June at lords. I wrote an article on 19th June titled "Revolution in Pakistan cricket" in which I talked about the consistency that needs to be brought in the team and they have to act and behave like team.
The body language of Pakistan was outstanding right from the word go and the very first bowl from Muhammad Ammer indicated that Pakistani team definitely came up with the plan. Teasing Dilshan with quick short balls forced him to play a false short. Abdur Razzaq inclusion was superb as he took 3 vital wickets of srilankan top order. The catching and ground fielding was awesome and it showed the thirst of boys to win it this time.
This is what required on a more regular basis. They got themselves together and made strategies, overcome their weaknesses.

A Basic Guide to Cricket

Cricket is a bat and ball game played by two teams of eleven players. There are a few formats of the game but the basic principles are the same in all formats. Cricket matches can last for several days, or they could be played out in an afternoon. For example a 'Test Match' would be scheduled to be played out over five days, whereas a 'Twenty20' match will be finished in just a few hours.
The traditional cricket game is played over two 'innings'. Each team has the opportunity to bat twice and bowl twice - it doesn't always follow that this will happen, as the team that bats second can in theory bowl the other team out twice and having scored enough 'runs' to win the match without batting again.
The cricket bat is a flat blade of wood (usually willow) around 4.25 inches wide and 38 inches long with a handle spliced into the top.
The cricket ball is a hard cork and string construction bound by thick leather with one straight central seem. The dimensions and hardness are similar to a baseball.
The game is played on a field usually an oval shape and measuring anywhere between 90 and 150 metres in diameter, and in the centre, will be the pitch. The pitch is a rectangular strip of hard packed earth with a closely cropped grass surface 20 meters in length. At each end of the pitch are three vertical wooden 'stumps' (round posts 1 inch in diameter) around thigh height with two small wooden cross-pieces known as 'bails' perched on the top between the stumps. This structure is known as the wicket.
It is the batsman's job to protect the wicket and to score 'runs' - and it is the bowlers job to dismiss the batsman through a number of means, the most obvious of which is to strike the wicket with the ball dislodging the bails.
Before the match begins a coin is tossed to decide the order of play. The team winning the toss gets to decide whether to bat first or to field first.
The fielding team will have all eleven players present on the field, while the batting team has two players. The remainder of the batting team will remain off field awaiting their turn to bat.
The fielding side will strategically locate players around the field to prevent runs being scored by the batting side. One of the fielding players is the Wicket Keeper and he stands behind the wicket to collect the ball if it is bowled past the batsman. The wicket keeper will wear webbed and padded gloves as well as leg pads and a protective helmet.
The fielding side will usually only have one wicket keeper but they may have several bowlers each of whom can take a turn to bowl.
The bowler will run in and deliver the ball (with an over-arm action) down the pitch at anywhere between 50 and 90 mph. The bowler is aiming to hit the stumps or coax the batsman into hitting the ball to a fielder to be caught. If the wicket is struck by the ball or the the ball is caught by a fielder (without first touching the ground), then the batsman is 'out' ie he has been dismissed and will be replaced by the next batsman in the team.
Each bowler will deliver a sequence 6 balls known as an 'over' before being rested while another bowler bowls another over from the other end of the pitch.
The batsman who is facing the bowler is 'on strike' and the other batsman at the opposite end of the pitch is the 'non striker'.
The batsmen score runs by striking the ball after it's been delivered by the bowler and running between the wickets as many times as they can before the fielding side can collect the ball and deliver it back to the centre.
If, while the batsmen are running between the wickets, the fielding side manage to strike the wicket with the ball before the batsman has reached the 'crease' (a line painted on the pitch just before the wicket) the batsman is 'out' (dismissed).
Batsman can also accrue 'runs' by striking the ball to the 'boundary' of the field. The boundary is usually marked by a continuous line or rope running around the circumference. If the ball reaches the boundary having touched the ground the batsman scores four runs without even having to run between the wickets. If the ball is struck over the boundary without touching the ground the batsman will score six runs, again without needing to physically run.
The bowling team aims to dismiss ten batsmen while conceding as few runs as possible. The eleventh batsman cannot bat alone, so the innings comes to an end with the loss of the tenth batsman.
The batting team aims to score as many runs as possible before all ten batsmen are dismissed.
There's much more to this game than I've been able to cover here in this brief explanation but in essence, the team with the most runs wins.

Cricket in the Streets of Pakistan

There hasn't been a day in the last sixteen summers that the cricket in our street has not been played. They (players, kids and the spectators) will come out in the noon while the elders are sleeping at their homes and will rush to the dead end of the street. Yes the dead end! Its where the wickets are placed so that there is no wicket keeper, no slips, no fine leg and third man! There is only one rule in this form of cricket; hit the ball as hard as you can and for the bowlers is to ball as fast as they can. Certain rules and tricks are in the blood of these legends. You will not see a single ball being pitched up to the batsman and there are no straight elegant drives ever. This cricket continues through out the year until the news comes of the annual Summer Gala. That's the time when the best players are chosen and they are taken to the ground-yes the real ground!
The annual Summer Gala 2009 was a fun. There were as many teams as many are the streets-around 110 teams! 10 matches per day were to be played and every match was of 8 overs only. The team from my street made it to the finals after 20 days of continues matches and they were not rested for the final as well. Average score in these matches is around 100-130.
The final is always a mega event as some MPA is always invited to do the final prize distribution. Even price distribution is fun. The prizes are fixed and stipulated. Once someone sees that the game is going one way, he will put a huge price for the player who performs from the other side. This works as a catalyst and keeps putting the spirit in the game. Generally players end up with great money and the unofficial prize announcers get great publicity. There are even prices for a great diving stop.
